Inclusive Lab Environment

Our lab is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where all lab members have the resources they need to succeed. We expect lab members to proactively seek training on effective mentoring, bias in scientific research and academia, and inclusive teaching strategies. We prioritize clear and timely communication between lab members, including clearly stating expectations and celebrating each other's success. 

UCSB

UCSB is a broad and vibrant community with a diverse cultural life and commitment to preserving the environment. UCSB is home to the world-renowned Kavli Theoretical Physics Institute and outstanding engineering programs, allowing for meaningful cross-disciplinary communication and collaboration.

The Morrissey Lab is located in the Life Science Research Building, steps from the ocean. Parking information can be found here. The lab is also easily accessible by bike path.

Santa Barbara, California

Santa Barbara is tucked between the mountains and the ocean, with plenty of local restaurants, wineries, hiking, beaches, and entertainment. Beyond Santa Barbara, Los Angeles is a short 90 mile drive away. California has incredible national parks and forests, including the nearby Channel Islands, Joshua Tree, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Death Valley.
